Recently, I had the pleasure of witnessing the Snettisham Spectacular, a stunning natural phenomenon that occurs on the coast of Norfolk, England. The “Spectacular” occurs when waders, such as knots and dunlins, follow the incoming tide to create a feeding frenzy and rapid gathering of birds as the available mudflats shrink with the incoming tide.
The combination of high tide and many thousands of birds coming together and taking off over the mud, result in beautiful flying displays.. Unfortunately, murmurations did not really happen on this oaccassion due to high wind, but the spectacle was wonderful nevertheless, rustling in many beautiful photographs.
Enjoy my photographs of the 2023 Snettisham Spectacular. If you have the chance to witness this phenomenon for yourself, I highly recommend it – it’s an experience you won’t soon forget.
